Kicks, Tunes & Broken Windows

A little slice of fabulous. Chicago hit 61 degrees yesterday... very much needed after our long and dreary weather. Don't forget we had SNOMG just over one month ago. I took a mid-day siesta from work to get a bubble tea from Argo with hubster. I even left work at 5pm (shock)  to enjoy the glorious walk home.

60°
I took advantage of the heat wave and laced up my shoes to enjoy my first outdoors run of 2011. I ran my usual route along the lakeshore and jammed to my latest iTunes playlist (Ke$ha, Bruno Mars & Glee Covers). Pure heaven.
On the tale end of my run, I saw not one, not two but THREE broken car windows with the stereos torn out. Ouch. Been there. Done that. I suppose it makes the car owner an *official* Chicagoan... all they need now is their car towed to BUFU.

Hubster and I ended the evening by cashing in our Groupon to Rocco Ranali's.  All in all, it was a pretty great night.

Fondue Cupcakes?

I came across a blog post from Bake it Pretty and fell in love. I love fondue. I love cupcakes. Why not try fondue mini-cupcakes?

All I have to do now is buy a mini-cupcake pan and a reason to bake. This whole 'diet' thing is going to be a bit challenging.   = )

Spring Purchase

If you don't know about Toms Shoes, please read up on the their story here.

I plan on buying my first pair of Toms Shoes this spring. They will be perfect to wear with jeans and capris this spring. I can already see myself bopping around Green City Market and Lake View Music Fest with them. If you can't tell, I'm ready for spring... NOW!

Red or blue?

Breakfast of Champs

Yesterday I made another recipe out of my Crate and Barrel cookbook, Easy Breakfast & Brunch. It's basically an open-face omelet with only the freshest ingredients.

I bought a 10 inch quiche dish from Crate and Barrel (only $8.95) and used 7 eggs. First I used Pam to coat the dish so the omelet would come right out (which it did). I mixed in some fresh basil, cherry tomatoes, scallions and fresh feta cheese. Mix it all together, pour in the pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. So simple, so delicious.

Next time I make this, I'm going to make it a meat lovers edition. I'll toss in some pancetta and hot sausage. What would you put in your open face omelet?
